Character Description

The Fiend is a raw and terrible tornado. Willing - happy even - to cause destruction and pain to anyone who she can. She is bold and boisterous and more than a little bit crazy. She lacks empathy, because she is hollow inside. The buttresses and braces and structure of a whole person were never installed between her walls.

She has just enough self-awareness to understand that she is broken, incomplete, but not enough context or perspective to understand how or what to do about it. So she revels in what she knows, violence, and of violence, she is a master. Her life is easy, and straightforward. She knows her role: fighter, killer, monster. She will happily fulfill it, embody it, be it. But there is something on the edges of her that will, at her most raw, will show through.

Audition Lines

Line 1

(cheerful, a little menacing)

“Dog boy! We’ll have some bones for you in a minute.”

Line 2

(casual, matter of fact)

“Why should I answer a dead man’s questions?”

(pause, the Fool says you can tell a dead man things you wouldn’t tell the devil)

(swallow)

“No that doesn’t make sense. The devil talks to dead people all time. So if you tell a person a secret and kill him and he goes to hell, he can tell the devil and then it’s like I told the devil. And who keeps secrets from the devil anyway? Literally knows all the sins of all people that have ever existed and I can’t tell him about a few murders.”

(takes a bite of sandwich)

“Not that the murders are really a secret anyway.”

Line 3

(in the middle of a fight, reveling in it, finally feels alive again)

“Fuck. Yes. That’s it. You feel it, right? You’re like me. This is what we are, wolfy. This is what we were made to do. This when we’re the most we’ll ever be.”
